What happens when air from the ceiling fans hits the ceiling in a room with a sloped ceiling? If the ceiling fan is centered in the room, it would be basically half way up the slope. So wouldn't all the air go directly up the slope from where the ceiling fan is mounted? What about the other half of the room? What happens when the room is large? Will the force, coming down the walls, still be enough to get this warm air to the floor, especially when the ceiling is two stories high? What happens when ceiling fans are in a room with a two story high ceiling, which is open to the second floor level of the home?

Home centers often buy in large lots and get a good wholesale discount from the manufacturer. However, many specialize in the lower cost (and perhaps lower quality) fans. The selection is often limited and the expertise of the salespeople is often limited as well. You might get lucky and find just what you're looking for at one of these centers, but my guess is that what they have available will dictate what you will more than likely end up purchasing. The Internet has some definite advantages when shopping for ceiling fans. It also has some disadvantages. On the positive side, you can find just about every make and model on any number of websites. Because it's relatively easy to list an item, many websites display everything the ceiling fan manufacturer has to offer. Most good websites will also provide specifications and other relevant information about each listing.

This fact is not lost on the ceiling box manufacturers that are producing ceiling, outlet and junction boxes that are quick to install and are made of plastics that require less and less labor to install properly. This has gotten to the point that there is now a lighting box that only needs to be pushed onto a wooden stud for it to be secured; no fasteners are needed at all. The ceiling fan manufacturers however may not be keeping pace with the trend in ceiling box installation practices. They advise the consumer of their products to reinforce or replace the existing fixture with a fan-rated ceiling box which is prudent, though are the consumers heeding their installation directives?

Acoustic ceiling tiles were originally developed by interior designers who wanted to find a way to lower ceilings in a room while deadening the noise. With a acoustic ceiling tiles, a grid of metal strips is suspended from the room's actual original ceiling. Each of the sound-absorbing acoustic ceiling tiles is dropped into the sections created by the grid. The ceilings, in addition to deadening sound, can also hide unsightly fixtures, wires, and pipes that may be along the ceiling of older buildings and basements. The popularity of acoustic ceiling tiles reached its height in the '60's up through the early part of the 1980's. Since they originally contained asbestos, the ban on it greatly affected the production of acoustic ceiling tiles in 1978. Many people had to hire specialists to remove the asbestos acoustic ceiling tiles and replace them with alternate materials or restore rooms to their original bare ceilings.

You should consider the above very seriously as the ceilings will need to be redone if you wish to be able to change a non accessible ceiling into a demountable one. There are many different types of suspended ceilings systems but all are different depending on your requirements yet the concept is the same. For example there is the free span suspend ceiling system that is mainly used for corridors. This kind of system is made up of ceiling planks which are held by the perimeter trim on their short edges. This kind of system can be installed quickly and pretty easily, also it can produce a very nice effect when finished which is usually smooth.

Air conditioning provides cooling but it doesn't give you the cool, comforting breeze you get from a ceiling fan. A reversible ceiling fan will provide a cooling effect in the hot summer months and push warm air down from the ceiling in the cold winter months, helping you save on heating costs. As you survey each room you are considering for a ceiling fan, keep in mind several factors. Make sure the size of the room dictates the blade width of the ceiling fan selected for that room. A lighting store, home center or Internet website that sells ceiling fans will be able to guide you in selecting the right size fan for the square footage of a particular room.

These types of suspended ceilings can be made de-mountable for maintenance or non-accessible; if you opt for the de-mountable type then the ceiling planks are removed to allow you your easy access. Another suspended ceiling system is the bandraster system; these types of suspended ceilings are very flexible and can be made to match with any kind of building architecture. Once again these suspended ceilings can be made accessible or non accessible. These suspended ceiling are design with either concealed or exposed sections which link up to achieve lateral bracing, therefore these systems can be modified to fit any building.

And if you happen to have a room with the two story ceiling where the room is open to the second level, and where you notice the upstairs is always hot while the lower level is cold during winter, try using your ceiling fans in the down direction. You will not believe the difference! The black ceiling is quite common in movie halls, theatres, the office presentation room or the commercial kitchen. Movie halls and theatres require light concentration from projectors only on the screen or from spotlights only on the stage. The rest of the hall must remain in pitch-black darkness, thus black ceilings are quite common in these places.

The biggest advantage you will find with acoustic ceiling tiles is that they do damped noise between floors of your home or building. They can also be easily painted so that the ceiling can match the décor or palate of the room. However, there are drawbacks to acoustic ceiling tiles as well. If they get wet, they stain and the pooling water on top can cause them to fall unexpectedly. In addition, acoustic ceiling tiles look terrible when they stain and have to be bleached to get their original look back after water damage. If you do need to replace one of the acoustic ceiling tiles, though, it is pretty easy to do.

Even if you have a furnace or air conditioning units, you should still consider installing ceiling fans. Often, just turning on the ceiling fan will be enough to cool everyone down, saving you from turning on your air conditioning system. And in those really hot days you need to turn the AC on, the ceiling fans will help reach a comfortable environment around your house much faster. And the same thing applies to those cold winter days, when you have to have to heat your place.
